Occasionally, casual web browsing actually leads to something inspiring. And I'm glad that I just checked up on Stefan Dziallas, also known as iconwerk.
Occasionally, casual web browsing actually leads to something inspiring. And I’m glad that I just checked up on Stefan Dziallas, also known as iconwerk. He has updated his site with breathtaking new icon design work and released the first episode of iconwerkTV. Here’s one guy who elevates the icon to a new level. From mere utility to a thing of beauty. I’ve never coveted icons. Never. And I might just be guilty now.

Lofty words? Yes. But I just love this guy’s style. It’s modern, friendly and smart. He really cares about his work and it shows.

His site also showcases an important lesson for all of us. Simplify your business for the web. Everyone needs to focus on “just one thing”. As 37signals, the creators of the ever ubiquitous collaboration software Basecamp, encourages “underdo your competition“. By focusing on one thing that you do really well, you’ll gain a whole lot more attention for it. Someone that *only* does icons? That’s remarkable. If Stefan Dziallas had diluted his portfolio of beautiful icon work with website and user-interface design, I probably wouldn’t be talking about it.
